Abstract
In this tutorial, Shuyuan will introduce the fundamental concepts and methodologies of qualitative research and share empirical research data where qualitative methods of analysis are implemented. After the talk, you are expected to gain insights into qualitative methodology (e.g., interviews, observations), explore qualitative data analysis methods, and discover its relevance and applications in educational studies.
About the speaker
Shuyuan Liu is a PhD Candidate in Curriculum and Pedagogies in the Faculty of Education at Queen's University, Canada. She holds an M.A. in TESOL at the University of Southern California. Her research explores newcomer high school youth’s formal and informal learning experiences during the pandemic in Ontario. She has taught in Canada, China, and the United States at both secondary and post-secondary levels. Her research interests include formal and informal learning, community-based learning, international and comparative education, and teaching ELLs across the curriculum.
